Peter J. Stanlis (1920-2011) was a distinguished professor of humanities at Rockford College and member of the National Council for the Humanities. He was the author of numerous books including Edmund Burke and the Natural Law (1958) and the editor of Edmund Burke: Selected Writings and Speeches (1963). From 1959 to 1967 he was editor of The Burke Newsletter.
